Can a cubic polynomial estimate the discharge voltage for lithium-ion batteries?

Based on experiment data, we propose the cubic polynomial to estimate the discharge voltage for lithium-ion batteries at the subzero environment. In our battery experiment, the influencing factors are the charge current, end-of-charge voltage, discharge current, and end-of-discharge voltage.

Can lithium-ion battery discharge voltage be predicted?

In this way, the battery discharge voltage (i.e., an important parameter in a discharge/usage process) can be modeled and predicted. In future work, with obtaining more lifetime data of lithium-ion batteries at the subzero environment, we can investigate the degradation phenomenon, that is, to predict RUL of lithium-ion batteries.

How does a lithium ion battery charge?

During charging, lithium-ion batteries exhibit distinct voltage characteristics that reflect their electrochemical processes. The charging cycle typically follows a constant current-constant voltage (CC-CV) protocol. Initially, the battery voltage rises steadily as current flows into the cell.

What is a cut-off voltage for a lithium ion battery?

Cut-off Voltage: This is the minimum voltage allowed during discharge, usually around 2.5V to 3.0V per cell. Going below this can damage the battery. Charging Voltage: This is the voltage applied to charge the battery, typically 4.2V per cell for most lithium-ion batteries.
