What happens if a battery reaches a high temperature?

Batteries can start to degrade and lose capacity when exposed to temperatures above 140°F (60°C). At these high temperatures, the electrolyte inside the battery can evaporate, leading to reduced battery life and potential safety hazards.

Does high ambient temperature affect battery performance?

High ambient temperatures, however, can contribute to a high internal temperature of the battery — which can also decrease performance and power capabilities. In addition to this issue, high ambient temperatures produce further complications and risks.

What happens if a battery is too hot?

When a battery becomes too hot, the internal components can react in a way that generates excessive heat, leading to a rapid increase in temperature. This can cause the battery to swell, leak, or rupture, creating a potential fire hazard.

How hot can lead-acid batteries withstand?
