Technical FAQs 4

How does gravity keep the Solar System together?

The Sun’s gravity keeps the solar system together. The Sun rotates on its axis, with the equator rotating faster than the poles. Planets can be divided into two groups i.e., Inner Planets and Outer Planets. Inner Planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are the inner planets. They are closer to the Sun than the other planets.

Where is the Solar System located?

The solar system is located in the Milky Way's Orion star cluster. Only 15% of stars in the galaxy host planetary systems, and one of those stars is our own sun. Revolving around the sun are eight planets. The planets are divided into two categories based on their composition, terrestrial and Jovian.

Which planets are located at the center of the Solar System?

Located at the center of the solar system and influencing the motion of all the other bodies through its gravitational force is the Sun, which in itself contains more than 99 percent of the mass of the system. The planets, in order of their distance outward from the Sun, are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

What is a small body in the Solar System?

Any natural solar system object other than the Sun, a planet, a dwarf planet, or a moon is called a small body; these include asteroids, meteoroids, and comets. Most of the more than one million asteroids, or minor planets, orbit between Mars and Jupiter in a nearly flat ring called the asteroid belt.
