What is Maputo & Temane's power transmission line?

The construction phase of the power transmission line between Maputo and Temane, with a length of more than 500 kilometres and a capacity of 400 kilovolts (kV), has been completed. The infrastructure is classified as a significant undertaking for Mozambique, representing an investment of 3.7 billion meticals (60 million dollars).

How much does the Maputo-Temane powerline project cost?

The Maputo-Temane Powerline Construction which extends a distance of 580 kilometres, has been completed. This will then be followed by commissioning and current transmission phases. The powerline project is estimated to cost approximately $551.2 million. The construction works were initially planned to be completed by the end of the year 2023.

When did Maputo-mpambarra power line construction start?

Work on this infrastructure commenced with the construction works of batch six in February 2021. It ended with the completion of batch four, which is the construction of the Temane-Mpambarra power line, which had started in January 2022. The Maputo-Temane Powerline Construction which extends a distance of 580 kilometres, has been completed.

Who are the beneficiaries of the Mozambique project?

The direct beneficiaries of the project are the populations of the thirteen (13) districts in the southern region of Mozambique, specifically the Province of Inhambane (Vilanculos, Massinga, Funhalouro, and Panda), Province of Gaza (Chibuto, Mandlakaze, Chokwe, Bilene) and Province of Maputo (Magude, Manhiça, Marracuene, Moamba, Boane).
