What is a solar substation?

The purpose of the substation is to collect all solar array power and feed into the grid after stepping up voltage to distribution level. This substation is based on an Arcadia design, modified for the project. Power flow is bottom to top, 34.5 kV bus to 115 kV bus. It will consist of the following major drawings (single-line drawings).

How to connect a solar PV plant to a substation?

To connect a solar PV plant to distribution or transmission networks (46 - 550 kV), it is necessary to step up the voltage level from medium to high voltage. The purpose of a substation is to convert low voltages to high voltages, or vice versa, using power transformers.

What is a solar grid substation?

Solar Grid Substation - outdoor switching stations to connect a full solar park to the grid, manufactured in sheet metal housing consist of medium voltage switchgear (gas insulated - GIS or air insulated - AIS type) per client’s requirements fully equipped with all protection relays, measurements, monitoring and control systems.

What is a containerized mobile substation?

Containerized mobile substations are sheltered and address applications in challenging environmental conditions including areas of high pollution, and humidity. Customers requiring shorter overall delivery times and minimal on-site work have been the main drivers for Hitachi Energy's development of pre-fabricated indoor substations.
