Is the electricity sector in Sudan in a crisis?

What challenges does Sudan face in ensuring adequate electricity supply?

The Sudanese government faces significant challenges in ensuring adequate electricity supply for its population, which is estimated to have reached 43 million. As of 2022, the total electricity generation capacity stood at 2799 MW, while the national demand was approximately 3800 MW, resulting in a shortfall of about 1000 MW.
